Abstract

Pollution is slowly but surely destroying live on earth, and transport is responsible for a quarter of this pollution. Train is the most energy-efficient way to travel It is becoming essential to master it. In this report we are not going to save the world, but we are going to explore the most efficient modelling method for a railway track, and build this model for one rail, thus helping the spread of railway tracks. This report explains the 2.5D method, and how to use it. By firstly studying wave propagation, necessary to model the infinite direction, then applying this method to the necessary equations, showing therefore how it impacts the calculations by allowing simplifications and factorization that will considerably reduce the calculation time. And lastly it will prove the efficiency of this method by showing the results of the code made during this internship.
