Abstract
This report aims to transcribe the exploration of methods to reduce the costs of producing decarbonized heat for industrial processes in a relatively general case. Starting from a typical situation of gas heating, the study focuses on direct electrification as an alternative, with the objective of reducing its costs. To achieve this, various hardware configurations are detailed and modeled using a digital tool that then employs linear optimization algorithms to determine the optimal investment and use of the modeled installations, and return the calculated total cost. This work suggests that direct electrification could replace gas heating by 2030 at a lower cost and outlines the conditions for this forecast, indicating a potential future progression towards the decarbonization of this highly greenhouse gas-emitting industrial sector.
