Abstract

Understanding the embrittlement of reactor vessel steels under irradiation requires the study of impurity clusters that form. Indeed, the irradiation of steels heated to temperatures around 300°C is responsible for the formation of solute clusters and matrix defects, and it is these clusters that we need to model in order to better represent the underlying mechanisms of embrittlement. To achieve this, cluster dynamics have been theorized to enable computer simulations of this phenomenon. This research project aims to implement a new model, based on the literature, that will improve the simulation computation time for a FeCu binary alloy.
