Abstract

Internal gravity waves affect ocean mixing, which has implications for both local and global ocean climate. Propagating in stratified environments, one of the key phenomena influencing this mixing is the triadic resonance phenomenon. This report aims to analyze the existence and dynamics of triadic resonance, exploring the possibility of intense transient growth, particularly in unstable triads. This analysis lays the groundwork for studying double triadic resonance, which could further enhance transient growth. These phenomena are closely correlated with Earth’s rotation. Indeed, the Coriolis parameter and the buoyancy frequency combine to influence the existence of both single and double triads, as well as the transient growth of triadic instability, making it more consistent over time.
