Abstract

The propagation of sound waves in a biological medium is a fairly deep phenomenon to study. The scattered wave is produced by small (in front of the wavelength) inhomogeneities that could be likened to cells, randomly distributed in the tissues. The intensity and behavior of these waves depend on the values of certain quantities of the inhomogeneous medium. Modelling and implementing this phenomenon digitally requires an advanced analysis of the Helmholtz equation and stochastic homogenization techniques. This internship report shows the first phases and results of a simulation of sound waves in a complex biological environment.
