Abstract
This paper presents an in-depth analysis performed to extend the network fuzzer capabilities to generate malicious traffic targeting hospital critical infrastructure. Our work concentrates on the extension of protocol coverage of the tool 5Greplay, which allows that tool to become more efficient at finding vulnerabilities in those communication protocols. The methodology includes analysing the architecture of 5Greplay, the embedding of new protocol handling capabilities, and the definition of mutation rules to generate focused attack scenarios. This work is part of the Horizon Europe project AI4CYBER and constitutes an important building block for the AI4SIM tool for simulating AI-driven cyberattacks. The findings bring forward the crucial need for robust and adaptable fuzz testing tools in securing cybersecurity approaches for critical infrastructures.
