Abstract

The aim of this study is to propose a preliminary design for a reduced-scale fuel assembly model that can be used tomeasure the transverse hydraulic forces applied to it. The study was carried out in several stages. First, we built a 3D model of our model, then numerically calculated (using the code_aster) its deformations in the face of theoretically determined pressure forces. We compared the results obtained with the theory (via beam theory calculations). Next, CFD calculations (using the code_saturne calculation code) were used to calculate the pressure forces exerted on the model. Finally, using CFD calculations, we were able to calculate the model’s deformations in several configurations and propose a design satisfying the deformation targets.
