Abstract
The study of materials is crucial for industry because we need to understand the properties of different systems, including their thermodynamic characteristics, the various phases that can form, and the associated formation temperatures and compositions. This knowledge helps us to identify which system fits best for our needs. Since aluminum is particularly important for industries like the aerospace and the automotive industries, the study of the Aluminum-Copper system is especially relevant. This project focuses on the Al-Cu system, aiming to optimize the phase diagram through thermodynamic modeling. We use experimental data from the literature and an optimization software called ESPEI (Extensible Self-optimizing Phase Equilibria Infrastructure) based on the CALPHAD method, ESPEI being an extension of pycalphad, developed by B. Bocklund, R. Otis, A. Egorov, A. Obaied, I. Roslyakova, and Z.-K. Liu
