Abstract
Recruited as a junior by the second largest french oil company, Perenco, I became responsible for understanding the process of an oil field, operating it, and optimizing its process in a fairly short amount of time, under the title of production engineer, second responsibility holder on site, under the site manager’s orders. In time periods of 5 weeks with daily work, I would follow that mission in the offshore site of RDR West, located close to Cameroon’s shore, in the Rio del Rey basin. The field would be of high complexity, regarding its 21k barrels of oil per day production, the roughly 210 people it hosts on a regular basis, and its numerous delicate process features. Indeed, after just a couple of days of handover with the former production engineer I would replace, I have been hands-on with a field crossed by two gas circuits, powered by an self-sufficient electricity network, and equipped with its own fluid treatment process, that also receives production from a neighbor site.
