Abstract

In order to build the next generation of nuclear power plants, many years of design studies are required. As the project progresses, an increasing amount of data must be taken into consideration for design models. More and more systems are using numerical simulation software such as Flowmaster to be able to integrate all this data. These numerical software allow us to build complex networks based on suppliers’ feedbacks on components and on civil engineering installations. For the Reactor Boron and Water Make-Up System (RBWMS), modeling has hitherto been done on Excel but it was not convenient to integrate all the characteristics of the components. The objective of my internship was to model the hydraulic network of the RBWMS with Flowmaster, taking into consideration all the data given by the suppliers. Once this network was finished and validated, it was used for checking the sizing of key components such as pumps, control valves and diaphragms. A study on sensitive nozzles has also been produced based on the Flowmaster network of the RBWMS.
