Abstract

Recent developments in online analytical processing technologies bring the ability to servers to deliver real-time analysis of very large amounts of data. In parallel, new scenarios like the Internet of Things and digital business produce an unprecedented amount of location-referenced data. The advisory firm Gartner esti- mates that by 2020, approximately 25 billion devices generating location data will be permanently connected together through the Internet [1]. In order to process and make sense of this new kind of data, geospatial features must be added to the current business intelligence tools both server and client side. This report presents the detailed design and implementation of a proof of concept based on a practical “territory management” use case and built upon the ActivePivot Platform developed by Quartet FS.
