Abstract

This project aims to design a quadcopter which can be launched from the stratospheric layer of the sky and go to a predefined location. A specifically designed embedded parachute enables it to stop above the area of interest. The system is designed to be lifted with a helium (or hydrogen) balloon in the stratosphere, the most cost-effective way to achieve the goal. The first step is to reach the altitude between 15 and 35 km with the balloon. Then the system is released, falls like a bomb and is guided with the rudders to a planned location. This targeted location could be within about 10 km from the released position. Eventually the system slows down with its embedded parachute and starts the motors after taking them out. The system would be at the end a fully functional copter drone.
