Abstract
In the present work, the viscoelastic properties of magnetorheological elastomers (MRE) are investigated through the means of Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA). After a short introduction to viscoelasticity, DMA and MREs, the experimental setup used in the fabrication of MREs and the equipment for the DMA tests are described. Then, the preliminary work done to set up the experiments are discussed. The temperature sweeps carried out over the range [-140°C ; 0°C] showed peaks of the loss factor that caracterize crystallization, melting and glass transition at the same tempratures for silicone rubber and silicone-matrix-isotropic MRE. Preliminary work and ideas for further studies on the influence of micro-struturation of anisotropic MRE on its viscoelastic properties and for the construction of a mastercurve are finally suggested.
