Abstract
The aim of this project is to determine the effect of fish trawling on the concentration profiles in the sediments of different molecules: organic matter, O2, NO3, NH3 and products of organic matter's mineralisation. The method is the use of the OMEXDIA model, which is implemented in R and calculates these concentration profiles. Trawling can be modelled, either by mixing of the upper layer of the sediment, or by erosion of the upper layer followed by deposition on the sediment of the eroded matter. Erosion and deposition have more impact than mixing regarding the difference between the pre- and post-perturbation concentration values, the depth until which concentrations change, the time taken to come back to the initial state after one perturbation and the time taken to reach a periodicity in case of several perturbations. Moreover, N exchange between water and sediments changes because of trawling.
