Abstract

In order to investigate the relationship between the phase of the Antartic Oscillation (AAO), North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) and El Niño South Oscillation (ENSO) and temperatures (of the sea and the air) in the straight of Gerlache (SG) a correlation analysis is performed. It is found that the AAO, NAO, and ENSO phenomenons do have an influence on the Temperature at two meters (T2M) but do not have any on the sea surface temperature (SST). The influence of the NAO over T2M can be discarded. As the AAO and ENSO are related only during the boreal summer and since there is no relation AAO-T2M and ENSO-T2M during this season, it is concluded that the teleconnection ENSO-AAO hasn’t significant influence on temperature anomalies in the SG.
