STEINER, Monsieur Florian (2020) Pitch and geometry influence on the rear flow of three-dimensional bluff bodies PRE - Research Project, ENSTA.
| PDF 21Mb |
Abstract
of bluff bodies is detailed. The experiments are conducted in a wind tunnel, using a Ahmed body with a rectangular section. The back-body of the model can be changed in order to modify the geometry of the flow. The pitch angle of the model can also be adjusted by moving the supports holding it. Effort measurements on the body are used to determine the drag changes for different configurations. This report shows that above a certain ground clearance, the influence of the ground can be neglected. Behind the model, a recirculating zone is created. Its properties, like its size or the position of important points in this area will be studied. These results will be compared to the drag measurements influenced by pitch variations as well as the turbulence computed with the Reynolds tensor.
