Abstract
With growing concerns about the environmental impact of aircraft, airline compa-nies regained interest in propeller aircraft, because of their high propulsive efficiencyand low fuel consumption on short-range missions. However propeller aircraft suf-fers from a major drawback: the noise they produce. The goal of this work is tocompare two methods for predicting the aerodynamics loading of a propeller, anduse this results to predict the noise generated. The two methods compared are two blade element momentum theory with differentmodeling of the actuator disk. Two codes, already implemented in Matlab, togetherwith RFOIL will be adapted and used with a new propeller in two distinct cases:with or without sweep. The aerodynamics results from both codes is compared. The Helicoidal Surface theory is implemented to predict the noise generated bythe propeller. The results from the two methods show small differences in the noisepredicted. However the addition of sweep show interesting results for blade noisereduction
