Abstract

Nowadays, renewable energies are booming, however, the materials used to produce batteries and solar panels are not recyclable ; in addition, their manufacture generates a signicant pollution, directly and indirectly. Some research actions thus focus on nding new materials to produce sustainable batteries and solar panels in order to remedy these drawbacks. Eumelanin, the brown melanin present in our hairs and skin, is an organic conductor material which could be a solution to this problem. However, because of its insolubility in almost every solvants, we still do not know its structure. For trying to determine it, we have analyzed FTIR spectra of DHI and DHICA's tautomers and oligomers, linear or pi-stacked, simulated and experimental. We have found that some peaks present in the spectra of oligomers, tautomers and pi-stacked molecules can be found in the experimental spectra, revealing that after a while, the DHI and DHICA molecules spontaneously evolve in these dierent forms. The proportion can not be given, but for sure, these dierent forms are present in eumelanin's structure. Studies
