Abstract

We study the estimation and quantification of wind field uncertainty by exploiting a pair of images from an infrared sounder embarked on meteorological satellites based on probabilistic approaches. This estimation is useful for operational procedures used in metrological forecasts or in climate studies. In this report, an attempt is made to characterize this wind field distribution using the importance sampling method and Markov chain Monte Carlo methods.
