Abstract

The HANDY model is used to study the use of natural resources by human beings. This model of 4 equations distinguishes, depending on the initial conditions, three types of societies: egalitarian, equitable and unequal. In the case of an egalitarian society, I studied the stability of the model and in a particular case its bi-stable state. In the case of an egalitarian society, since the asymptotic steady state is not reached, I performed a sensitivity analysis to observe whether other asymptotic states could be reached.
