Abstract

Numerical stochastic simulations of turbulent particle dispersion with an inhomogeneous seeding are presented. Actually it has be shown experimentally in a turbulent jet that the mean velocity fields based on particles seeded from a point source differs from the mean fields of the jet flow. With stochastic algorithms based on the Orstein-Uhlenbeck model, we aim to reproduce and better understand this influence of inhomogeneous seeding on velocity statistics. First, simple situations with homogeneous velocity fields are considered, which are sufficient to observe the effect of point source seeding. We propose experimental measurements and a theoretical description of the phenomenon. Then more complex inhomogeneous situations are simulated to approximately describe a jet.
