Abstract
The integration of variable renewable energies in the energy mix has a significant impact on conventional units of production and that can influence investments in renewable capacities. In our work, we quantify the actual year 2019 flexibility of conventional sources and their flexibility in an optimal economic dispatch framework through a statistical measure: ramps. The aim of this study is to guide the introduction of flexibility costs in an open source renewable capacity optimisation model called e4clim using this economic dispatch which is the merit order. We propose different methods for this purpose.
