Abstract
In numerical simulation of linear mechanical systems dynamics, we often deal with models involving millions of degrees of freedom. As such models cost a lot in term of time computation, it is necessary to reduce the complexity while maintaining an acceptable accuracy with respect to the initial model. To do so, one of the techniques is the substructuringwith component modal synthesis. The purpose of this work is to implement on MATLAB a substructuring routine, along with tools such as .msh reader, Craig-Bampton reduction, and centrifugal/Coriolis forces. The code will be then used to analyse a numerical model of a rotor with multiple blades with defects, to see if the Craig-Bampton reduction can be sensitive to the defects, and provide relevant data.
