Abstract

This report summarizes the work carried out during a five-month internship at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Its aim was to contribute to the development of the WarpX PIC code using various tools (the Perlmutter supercomputer, the Pytorch module, etc.) and computer languages (Python, C++). The aim was also to use WarpX to better understand the physical situations it models. Encouraging results were obtained in coupling the initial code with neural networks, and in simulating laser-plasma interactions with suitably chosen input parameters. To a certain extent, this work has contributed to the continuous improvement of the WarpX code, whose modelling of plasma physics enables us to push the boundaries of science and its applications ever further.
